Care & Maintenance


  • To prevent feed problems, wipe the rollers located inside the Printer cover and Printer bed, with a lightly dampened paper towel monthly.
  • To clean the outer surface of the iP3500, wipe it with a soft, clean cloth lightly dampened with a mild detergent dissolved in water.
  • For optimal performance, perform a color test daily. If all colors are not printing and/or there are broken lines within the color or black grids, perform a Printhead cleaning.
  • The Printhead is a wearing item and is recommended to replace 2-3 times per year.

Troubleshooting


Media will not feed into the Printer
  • Make sure the edible media is seated firmly on the top tray of the Printer.
    • Align the media to the right side of the top tray.
    • Do not push the media into the Printer, place it on the Input Tray and allow the Printer to take the media.
  • Look for any obstructions in the Printer feed areas.
Images are streaking
  • Ensure the output tray is attached.
  • Make sure there isn’t any broken media in the Printer that would obstruct the Printhead.
  • Perform a Printhead cleaning.
The PhotoCake® ¼ Sheet Printer ALARM LED may flash an error code according to the type of problem it is having. Count the number of orange flashes to determine the error.
  • Two Flashes: Printer is out of paper / Paper does not feed.
    • Load/Reload media into the Input Tray.
    • Press the RESUME/CANCEL button. This is the gray button located on the right front of the Printer next to the alarm LED.
  • Three Flashes: Paper Jam
    • If the media is jammed, remove the jammed media, reload the media in the Printer, and then press the RESUME/CANCEL button.
  • Four Flashes: Ink Cartridge is not installed properly/Ink Cartridge is empty/Chipped Cartridge Insert not installed properly
    • If the lamp on the Ink Cartridge is not lit, the Ink Cartridge may not be installed properly.
    • If the lamp on the Ink Cartridge is flashing, Ink Cartridge may be empty, replace the Ink Cartridge.
    • If the error cannot be cleared by installing a new Ink Cartridge, the Chipped Cartridge Insert may not be installed properly.
      • Remove all four Ink Cartridges.
      • Remove the Chipped Cartridge Insert.
        • Gently push forward on the top part of the insert. It is not necessary to lift the grey Printhead lock arm.
        • Press the power button on the Printer to power off.
        • Remove the power cable and the USB cable from the Printer.
        • Plug in the Printer power cable.
        • Press the power button on the Printer.
        • Reseat the Chipped Cartridge Insert by gently pressing down on both sides, ensuring it clicks into place.
        • Reseat all four Ink Cartridges making sure they are flashing red simultaneously.
        • Close the lid of the Printer and wait until the Printer power light maintains a solid green.
  • Five Flashes: Printhead is not installed/ Printhead is defective
    • Remove Printhead.
      • If a Printhead cannot be located, call DecoPac to order one.
      • If the Printhead has been used for a long period of time, it is likely worn and needs to be replaced.
      • Otherwise restart the Printer with the Printhead removed.
    • Install Printhead.
    • Restart Printer.
  • Eight Flashes: Waste Ink Tank Absorber Almost Full
    • Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error and resume printing.
  • Sixteen Flashes: Ink has run out
    • Replace the Ink Cartridge.
  • Power Light Flashes Alternate Green and Orange: Service Error
    • Power Cycle Printer.
      • Disconnect the USB Printer cable from the Printer.
      • Turn the Printer off.
      • Disconnect the Printer power cable.
      • Reconnect the Printer power cable.
      • Reconnect the Printer USB cable.
      • Press the Printer power button and wait for the power light to resume a solid green.

    • Using the paper guide, align the media to the right side of the top tray.
    • Do not push the media into the Printer, place it on the Input Tray and allow the Printer to take the media.
  • Verify the correct feed tray is selected.
    • The feed tray indicator light is located on the front right side of the Printer. This light should be slanted and illuminated green, indicating top feed. If it is not, press the lower silver oblong button until the slanted light is lit.
  • Look for any obstructions in the Printer feed areas.

  • Make sure there isn’t any broken media in the Printer that would obstruct the Printhead.
  • Perform a Printhead cleaning.
The Power light is flashing orange
  • Two Flashes: Printer is out of paper / Media does not feed.

    • Press the RESUME/CANCEL button. This is the top silver oblong button located on the front right side of the Printer.
  • Three Flashes: Media Jam/Output Tray is Closed
    • If the media is jammed, remove the jammed media, reload the media in the Printer, and then press the RESUME/CANCEL button.
    • If the Output Tray is closed, open it.
  • Four Flashes: Empty Ink Tank
    • Replace the empty ink tank with a new one.
  • Five Flashes: Printhead not Installed/ Printhead not Installed Correctly / Printhead Worn
    • Remove Printhead.
      • If a Printhead cannot be located, call DecoPac to order one.
      • If the Printhead has been used for a long period of time, it is likely worn and needs to be replaced.
      • Otherwise restart the Printer with the Printhead removed.
    • Install Printhead.
    • Restart Printer.
  • Eight Flashes: Waste Ink Tank Absorber Almost Full
    • Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error and resume printing.

      • Press the Printer power button and wait for the power light to resume a solid green.

      • Otherwise restart the Printer with the Printhead removed.
