Entice Adult Super Fans With Epic, Aged-Up Cake Designs
Once upon a time, characters from comic books, cartoons and favorite brands belonged to a special world designed only for kids. Back then, adults who worshiped these characters kept their adoration tightly guarded like a superhero’s secret identity. Wow, have times changed!
Today, adult super fans are proud to show allegiance to their favorite characters at the box office, on social media, and through branded apparel and merchandise. And, when it comes to special occasions, these passionate adults want to keep their inner child happy by celebrating with the heroes and heroines they love.
How do I know? Because I’m one of these hard-core fans. In fact, I had an Iron Man themed party and cake for my 25th birthday. I mean c’mon, he’s a billionaire philanthropist who gets to save the day in an awesome suit, and has a bunch of super friends!
One of the best ways to entice these adult fans is with trend-forward cakes using our new aged-up Disney PhotoCake® designs. From silky Cinderella tiers and splashy Minnie Mouse cookies to a fairy-ringed Tinkerbell cake and this magnificent Maleficent creation, your PhotoCake® image library unlocks a new world of opportunity. Simply enhancing PhotoCake® images with creative touches, you can capture the hearts, and dollars, of this powerful fan base.

To jumpstart your creativity, here’s how I approached two all-ages cake designs for the record-breaking blockbuster, Black Panther. Both designs feature sophisticated elements inspired by the rich color palette, the tribal imagery, and the movie poster.
A Cake Fit For Royalty
To create upscale dimension on these jewel-toned tiers, I printed out the PhotoCake® image and applied the media to a Fondant DecoSheet for extra stability. I intentionally cut around the image in an angular fashion like the sharp lines on the official poster. Then I used colored Fondant DecoSheets and Gum Paste to cut out triangle shapes and added detailed piping to convey a powerful, tribal look.

Wakanda Warriors
For for the two black tiers, I created a snake-like texture using a texture mat and airbrushed it with black shimmer to resemble the Black Panther’s suit. For the jungle-inspired bottom tier, I used a fondant extruder to create the vines and combined Gum Paste round leaf sprays and leaves with hand-cut green fondant leaves for greenery. Bear grass stalks enhance the wild, tropical effect. The gold Fondant DecoStrips that frames the PhotoCake® image and the red and blue tribal band on top is a nod to the royal standing of the beloved Wakanda King. Complete with the Streets of Wakanda Cupcake Rings and you have a cake any superfan will love.

ABOUT THE DECORATOR
Hey there, I’m Danielle. I started decorating cakes with my Grandma when I was six years old. It was a fun hobby we enjoyed together. As I got older, I dreamt of going to art school or becoming the next Alicia Keys, but when I was sixteen my Grandma passed away. So when the Cordon Bleu came into my home ec class, I thought. “That’s it. I can still be an artist, and take the Bubba with me the whole time.” That’s why I love being a cake designer and decorator at DecoPac—I get to create amazing, edible art with my Grandma smiling over my shoulder.
